About 'Slow'

After reading seemingly thousands of beautiful children's books to her own children and seeing the power of words and pictures in inspiring young minds, Tess decided to write her own children's story focusing on becoming more mindful of our own impact on our environment.

Tess partnered with Leila Ashtiani, a talented artist, mother and curator originally from Iran, who migrated to Australia in 2013.  Leila, who herself is passionate about the environment and nurturing young minds, illustrated the story using a mixture of pencil and brush work.

'Slow' is a story about Nessy, a young girl from the city who wants to look after her treasured planet. Nessy visits her 'Pop' who lives on the edge of a mountain and grows potatoes. She discovers that treading more slowly reduces her impact on the environment.

100% of profit from every purchase of 'Slow' is being donated to local sustainability projects. We will update this page to reflect all positive impacts of 'Slow'.

'Slow' has been created to the highest possible sustainability standards. It has been printed on 100% recycled paper, carbon neutral, using plant based ink, in Melbourne.

'Slow' is available at all major children's book outlets.
